We are bombarded with stimulating sources of information and interaction. Social media encompasses a vast amount of time at work and home but where is our 'down time'? Switching off the stimuli is not easy.
When we investigate where the 8 hour work day actually came from, it gives us an idea of how unbalanced our lives have become. In fact it was a method implemented to increase productivity and efficiency over a century ago during the industrial revolution. Once leading companies profits were seen to increase others followed, making the 8 hour day standard.
However, modern investigations have discovered we have 4 different types of energy, which all require balance.
Is there a disparity in your energies?
To help get a balance, maintain a task for 90 - 120 minutes. This is the optimum amount of time we can focus. After each session, it is suggested we have 20 - 30 minute break to renew our focus and achieve a high performance on the next task. Try segmenting your tasks into 90 minute sessions per day this way you can envision 4 or 5 tasks per day and not become overwhelmed. These segments should also include physical, emotional, and spiritual breaks' enabling you to achieve your balance.
How have you found your balance?
